OFFICIAL VENUE ANNOUNCED! PASADENA CONVENTION CENTER
The Women in Green Forum issued a Request for Proposals for Convention Centers and hotel convention venues to serve as the host of the 2010 Women in Green Forum. The goal was to find a partner – one which shares the vision for a green conference and is willing to go above and beyond to show the attendees, speakers and sponsors a commitment to environmental stewardship.
We are proud to announce the selection of the Pasadena Convention Center. The facility recently went through a $150 million expansion and it is anticipated the facility will receive the highly coveted LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification from the United States Green Building Council.
The Women In Green Forum is implementing various practices to reduce the overall environmental impact of the event. The planning committee selected the Pasadena Convention Center realizing that site selection is a key step toward planning a green meeting. The following practices are in place at the venue:
High-efficiency lighting and equipment, including LED technology.
Automated building control systems to increase energy efficiency.
Aggressive convention and operational recycling program. Composting program is currently in development.
Drought-resistant landscaping.
The expansion project was designed to perform 32 percent better than California’s
energy efficiency standards.
Water-conserving restroom fixtures reduce water consumption 37 percent.
Green seal certified cleaning products/supplies are used throughout the building.
The official hotel of the Women In Green Forum is attached to the Convention Center and all activities are within walking distance.
Please see Forum Greening Practices for a complete list of additional sustainability measures that were put in place by the producers.
