Green Meeting Practices

The Women In Green Forum is being produced as a Green Meeting and the following practices are in place:

Pasadena Convention Center:
• High-efficiency lighting and equipment, including LED technology;
• Automated building control systems;
• Aggressive convention and operational recycling program;
• Drought-resistant landscaping;
• A new, energy-efficient central plant supports the larger facility
without adding to Southern California’s electrical grid;
• Storm water run-off irrigation;
• Water-conserving restrooms; and,
• Incentives for employees using public transportation.

Decor and Staging by Viesso:

We have partnered with the Santa Monica-based eco furniture design firm Viesso to provide a fireside chat setting for the main stage.  Viesso offers:
> custom-designed,
> sustainably produced furniture,
> made in Los Angeles,
> with only a 3-week lead time.

The stage will feature:
• Ason Sofa – This sophisticated sofa is made out of wool fabric which is made from natural content, as well as natural latex for the cushions and frame. The glues are water based, and the webbing and other internal components are all natural.;
• Rondi Chair – This elegant chair is made out of wool fabric which is made from natural content, as well as natural latex for the cushions and frame.  The glues are water based, and the webbing and other internal components are all natural.;
• Koper Table – This side table combines rustic and modern, and utilizing our Earth’s resources in a unique way. The wood used is from reclaimed douglas fir wood collected from torn down buildings in Los Angeles. The finish is with a linseed oil.;
• Shanghai Mix Rug – A shaggy rug made with a fine count of the finest  wool gives a very unique texture and feel.  Made from wool, an all natural material.0% post consumer waste recycled content paper;

Conference Materials:
• Printed on at least 50% post consumer waste recycled content paper;
• Paperless online registration and speaker selection process; and,
• Supplies are sourced from a green preferred supplier list.

Green Office:
The event production office of Three Squares Inc. follows these practices:
•  All staff live within a 15 mile radius of the office or work remotely;
•  Operations are 100% carbon neutral and 100% powered by renewable energy;
•  Minimal printing on 100% recycled paper (only one printer in the office);
•  Use FSC certified printers and print on 100% recycled paper, processed chlorine-free using soy inks for all letterhead;
•  100% natural daylighting used during the day (no need for office lights until after sunset);
•  Green Seal certified or natural home made cleaning products;
•  Office kitchen features china (no disposables) and condiments in bulk.

Energy and Carbon:
• Event web site is powered using Green-e certified 100% renewable energy credits from wind and solar-powered energy.

The event producer Three Squares Inc. is a proud member of the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC) and TSI President Jaime Nack serves as the President of the Southern California GMIC Chapter.
